Short answer: JazzHR and Workable both print their prices, and for a small US employer that wants AI help reading applicants, the entry cost is almost identical. JazzHR's AI-Powered Candidate Matching starts on the Plus plan at $3,480 a year. Workable Standard starts at $299 a month, or $3,588 a year, for a company of 1 to 20 employees, and its AI screening runs through the Workable Agent on a credit meter. The real differences are who each vendor will sell at list price and how the bill grows with volume.

Both are applicant tracking systems built for small and mid-sized businesses, and both turn up on the same shortlist when an owner or HR generalist outgrows a shared inbox. JazzHR belongs to Employ Inc., which also owns Lever and Jobvite. Workable is an independent vendor that bundles recruiting with an HR information system. We read both pricing pages on October 15, 2026. Where a figure is our arithmetic rather than the vendor's, the text says so.

How much do JazzHR and Workable cost?

JazzHR publishes three annual rates. Hero is $1,000 a year and covers job posting (starting at three jobs a month), the applicant tracking system, email templates and the LinkedIn Recruiter integration. Plus is $3,480 a year and adds up to 200 active jobs, AI-Powered Candidate Matching, structured interviews and assessments, task automation and standard reporting. Pro is $5,508 a year and adds offers and e-signatures, custom and visual reporting and all-access support. JazzHR says yearly billing saves up to 24 percent, and it also bills certain add-ons by consumption without printing those rates. Our JazzHR pricing breakdown covers each tier line by line.

Workable prices by company size. Standard is $299 a month, or $3,588 a year; Premier is $599 a month, or $7,188 a year; Enterprise is $719 a month, or $8,628 a year. Those are the rates for 1 to 20 employees. The selector on the page steps through nine bands up to 1,000 and above, and the rate rises with each. On Standard, texting ($89 a month), video interviews ($109) and assessments ($59) are paid add-ons; Premier includes them. The full tier breakdown is in our Workable pricing guide.

Is JazzHR cheaper than Workable?

At the very bottom, yes. If you only need to post jobs and track applicants, JazzHR Hero at $1,000 a year is about a quarter of Workable Standard. The gap closes the moment you want software to read the applicants for you. JazzHR's matching starts on Plus at $3,480, and Workable's entry plan is $3,588, a difference of $108 a year.

Two conditions change the answer. First, JazzHR's own footnote says its standard pricing does not apply to staffing or recruiting agencies, HR service providers, franchises, multi-location businesses or organizations with more than 250 employees. If you are any of those, the published JazzHR numbers are not your numbers. Second, Workable's printed rates only cover companies of up to 20 people, so a 150-person employer is quoted a band rate it cannot see on the page. Neither vendor gives a mid-sized multi-site business a price without a call.

Which one screens applicants with AI?

Both, in different ways and on different terms. JazzHR's AI-Powered Candidate Matching compares candidates against the role and is included in the Plus and Pro subscriptions with no metering published. It is not on Hero, which has a resume parser and knockout questions but no matching. JazzHR does not publish whether matching returns a ranked list or a per-candidate indicator, so ask to see it run on a real requisition.

Workable's pricing page sells AI screening as the Workable Agent, available on any plan. The Agent charges 1 AI credit each time it evaluates a candidate against your ideal candidate profile, 2 credits for each passive candidate it sources and 10 credits each time a candidate interacts with its chat. Every paid account gets 3,000 free credits. After that, credits come in packs: 5,000 for $600, 10,000 for $1,000 or 50,000 for $4,750, which is 12 cents down to 9.5 cents a credit. Credits expire a year after purchase and are non-refundable, and the free trial does not include the Agent. Workable has also documented a built-in Screening Assistant in its help center; ask on the demo whether your plan includes it alongside the Agent and what each one returns.

Applicants evaluated per yearJazzHR PlusWorkable Agent, evaluation only (our arithmetic)
2,400 (200 a month)Included in $3,480Covered by the 3,000 free credits
6,000 (500 a month)Included in $3,4803,000 over, one 5,000 pack, $600
24,000 (2,000 a month)Included in $3,48021,000 over, about $2,000 to $2,520

That table only counts evaluations. Add chat at 10 credits an interaction and the meter moves much faster. For a business that hires steadily but at low volume, the difference is noise. For a seasonal employer that gets 3,000 applicants in a month, it is a real line item.

Which is better for a small business?

Pick JazzHR if you are a single-location US business under 250 employees, you hire a handful of roles a year and you want the lowest predictable bill. Hero does the job for $1,000, and Plus is a fixed price if you want matching. Skip Pro unless you need its reporting: if offer letters are the only reason to step up $2,028 a year, an electronic signature tool for sending offer letters costs far less than the tier jump.

Pick Workable if you also want the HR side in one place, since the bundle carries an HRIS, onboarding, time off and payroll preparation, or if you are an agency, franchise or multi-site employer that JazzHR will not sell at list price. Workable also lets you test the product properly: a 15-day trial of the Standard feature set with no card, which JazzHR does not advertise.

What neither plan fixes

Both systems store and route applicants well. The harder problem for a small team is the 300 resumes that land on one posting in a week. Matching on JazzHR and the Agent on Workable both help, but neither publishes how its score is built, and Workable's charges you for every candidate it reads. If what you actually need is every resume read against your own criteria with the evidence written down, bulk applicant screening is the narrower and cheaper tool, and it sits beside whichever ATS you choose. Our guide to the best ATS for small business compares the wider field, and resume screening software for small business shows the flat-rate alternative.
