Workable Pricing: Plans, Cost and AI Credits

Workable publishes its rates, which most applicant tracking systems do not. What Standard, Premier and Enterprise actually cost, why the employee band under the headline price matters more than the tier, what the AI credit meter works out to per candidate, and the add-on arithmetic that decides whether Premier is worth it.

Short answer: Workable publishes its rates, which puts it in the minority of applicant tracking systems. Checked on August 22, 2026: Standard is $299 a month or $3,588 a year, Premier is $599 a month or $7,188 a year, and Enterprise is $719 a month or $8,628 a year, with annual billing saving about 20 percent. Those are starting rates that step up across nine employee bands from 1 to 20 people up to 1,000 and above. There is a real 15-day trial of the full Standard feature set with no credit card. The Screening Assistant is included at no extra charge, but the Workable Agent is metered at 1 credit per candidate evaluated.

How much does Workable cost?

Workable costs $299 a month on Standard, $599 on Premier and $719 on Enterprise, or $3,588, $7,188 and $8,628 respectively when billed annually. Annual billing saves roughly 20 percent. Those figures are the entry point for the smallest employee band, and the rate rises as your headcount moves through the nine bands Workable prices against.

That headcount detail is the part buyers most often miss. The price is not per recruiter seat and it is not per active job. It is a platform fee that steps with total company size: 1 to 20, 21 to 50, 51 to 100, 101 to 200, 201 to 400, 401 to 600, 601 to 800, 801 to 1,000, and 1,000 plus. Workable does not publish what each band costs, so the published $299 is the floor rather than your number. If you sit at 195 employees and expect to pass 200 during the contract term, ask what happens at the boundary before you sign.

Active jobs are described as unlimited, subject to fair usage limits. In practice that phrase means unlimited for normal hiring and negotiable if you are posting at a scale the plan was not designed for. Worth a direct question if you are an agency or a high-volume employer.

Workable pricing plans compared

All three tiers include the core applicant tracking system, the careers page, job posting and the Screening Assistant. The differences are in bundled modules, reporting depth and support level.

PlanMonthlyAnnualWhat it adds
Standard$299$3,588Core ATS, unlimited jobs subject to fair usage, Screening Assistant included
Premier$599$7,188Bundles texting, video interviews, assessments and performance tooling
Enterprise$719$8,628Enterprise controls and support on top of Premier

The gap between Standard and Premier is where most of the real decision sits, and it is a packaging question rather than a feature question. On Standard, texting, video interviews, assessments and performance and engagement are sold as individual add-ons at roughly $89 to $109 a month each. Add three of them and you have spent more than the $300 monthly difference to Premier, without getting the fourth. So the arithmetic is simple: if you want two of those modules, stay on Standard and buy them. If you want three or more, Premier is cheaper. Sales teams do not always volunteer that comparison, so run it yourself.

What are Workable AI credits and what do they cost?

Workable sells two distinct AI products and only one of them is included. The Screening Assistant comes with Recruiting plans at no extra charge. The Workable Agent is a paid add-on available on all three plans, and it runs on a credit meter.

Every paid account starts with 3,000 free AI credits. After that you buy packs, and the credits expire one year from purchase and are non-refundable.

Credit packPriceEffective cost per credit
5,000 credits$600$0.12
10,000 credits$1,000$0.10
50,000 credits$4,750About $0.095

Consumption is metered by action: evaluating a candidate costs 1 credit, sourcing costs 2, and a chat interaction costs 10. So AI evaluation of your inbound pile works out at roughly 9.5 cents to 12 cents per candidate, depending on pack size.

Model that against your actual volume rather than a demo. At 300 applicants a month you are spending about $30 to $36 on evaluation, which is noise next to a $299 platform fee. At 5,000 applicants a month you are spending $475 to $600, which is more than the platform itself. Chat interactions at 10 credits each move much faster than people expect if candidates are conversing with the agent rather than exchanging one message. Metered pricing rewards low volume and quietly punishes exactly the hiring spike where you most wanted the automation, which is why it is worth putting a real-time alert on the spend before the invoice arrives rather than discovering the overage at renewal.

The other clause to read is expiry. Credits die one year from purchase and are not refundable, so buying the 50,000 pack for the better unit rate only saves money if you genuinely burn 50,000 credits inside twelve months. Buying volume you will not use at $0.095 is more expensive than buying what you need at $0.12.

Does Workable have a free trial?

Yes, and it is one of the better ones in this category. The trial runs 15 days, requires no credit card, and gives you the complete feature set of the Standard plan rather than a stripped demo environment. That matters because it lets you run your own resumes through the Screening Assistant on your own roles, which is the only evaluation that tells you anything useful.

Compare that with the rest of the market. Bullhorn, Ashby, JazzHR, Spark Hire and SmartRecruiters advertise no trial at all, which means your evaluation happens inside a sales-led demo with sample data. Workable, Zoho Recruit and Manatal all run genuine no-card trials. If hands-on evaluation matters to your team, that difference is worth as much as a line item on price.

What does Workable's Screening Assistant actually do?

The Screening Assistant scans each applicant's resume and summarizes how their skills and experience match the job, drawing on the profile summary, education, work history, listed skills and the attached resume itself. It uses semantic matching rather than keyword matching, so a candidate who wrote "managed accounts payable" is recognized against a requirement for AP experience without having typed the acronym.

That is genuinely useful and it is included, which is more than several better-known platforms offer at any price. What it gives you is a per-candidate summary of fit. Read the demo carefully on the question of whether you get the whole inbound pile placed in order, or a helpful paragraph under each name that you still have to read one at a time. Those are different amounts of work at 600 applicants.

The Workable Agent is the more autonomous product and the one to scope carefully. Workable's own description is that it searches the talent market, evaluates profiles against your job needs, sends personalized outreach, follows up to gather missing details, and advances candidates through your pipeline. Advancing candidates is an action taken on a real person's application. Workable is clear that you stay in the loop and in control at every step, and you should confirm exactly which steps require a human click in your configuration, because that setting is where your defensibility lives if a decision is ever challenged.

How Workable pricing compares with other applicant tracking systems

Workable sits in the middle of the market on price and near the top on transparency. Roughly half of the platforms in this category publish nothing at all.

The pricing unit matters more than the sticker. Workable's flat fee means a 12-recruiter team pays the same as a 3-recruiter team at the same company size, which is unusually friendly if you want hiring managers in the system. Bullhorn's per-user model at $165 puts that same 12-person team at $1,980 a month before any AI. Our full ATS pricing comparison works through all 22 platforms and the three pricing units they use, and the Bullhorn pricing breakdown covers the per-user math in detail.

What should you ask before signing a Workable contract?

Five questions, and they take about ten minutes.

First, what is the rate at our exact employee band, and what does it become at the next one? The published $299 is the floor. Second, which add-ons are we buying on Standard, and does that total exceed Premier? Run that arithmetic before the call, not during it. Third, how many AI credits will our actual monthly application volume consume, using 1 credit per evaluation and 10 per chat interaction? Ask them to model your number, not a sample. Fourth, does the Screening Assistant return our inbound pile in order, or a summary under each name? Ask to see 300 applications, not four. Fifth, since we hire in the United States, how does the product support EEOC guidance and NYC Local Law 144 bias audits, and what documentation would we hand a regulator?

That last one is not boilerplate. The employer keeps the legal responsibility for a selection procedure regardless of which vendor built the model, and our guide to AI hiring laws by state covers what actually applies where you hire.

The bottom line

Workable is fairly priced and honestly priced, which is a genuine differentiator in a category where eleven of the twenty two major platforms will not give you a number without a sales call. Standard at $299 a month with a real 15-day trial and an included Screening Assistant is a reasonable place for a mid-market team to land, and the annual discount is worth taking if you are confident about the term.

The two things to watch are the employee band you are about to cross and the credit meter on the Agent. Neither is hidden, but neither appears on the headline price. Model both against your real hiring volume, and remember that a metered per-candidate cost is cheapest exactly when you need the tool least.

If your inbound volume is the actual problem and you already run an ATS your recruiters know, replacing the whole platform is rarely the cheapest route to ranked shortlists. A screening layer that reads every inbound application, scores role-fit and returns the pile in order with the evidence attached runs alongside Workable rather than instead of it.
