Short answer: Jobvite and Lever are both applicant tracking systems owned by Employ Inc., and neither publishes a price. Vendr's buyer data puts the median Lever contract at $15,400 a year and the median Jobvite contract at $14,128, so the headline cost is close. The real difference is structure. Lever sells one Core Platform that already includes AI-powered screening. Jobvite sells a core ATS and adds modules, and its own pricing FAQ lists AI-powered candidate matching as part of the suite without saying which quote it lands in.
Because both products come from the same parent, the choice is less about which company is better and more about which shape of contract fits your team. Employ positions the family as a ladder: JazzHR for foundational hiring, Lever for scalable hiring, Jobvite for sophisticated, compliance-heavy talent teams. We read both vendors' pricing pages, their AI product pages and Vendr's listings for this comparison.

Jobvite vs Lever pricing
Lever publishes no rate. Its pricing page is a quote form above a list of what the Core Platform contains, and the FAQ says pricing "scales based on your team size and hiring needs". The best public anchor is Vendr, which brokers software contracts and publishes anonymized buyer data: a median of $15,400 a year across 318 purchases, a range of $6,714 to $51,864, and an average saving of about 16 percent against the first quote. Our Lever pricing page breaks down what drives a quote up or down.
Jobvite is just as closed. Its pricing page tells you to "start with the core" ATS and add modules, and every call to action is a quote request. There are no plan names at all, which makes Jobvite harder to compare than vendors that at least name their tiers. Vendr shows a median Jobvite contract of $14,128 a year, with a range of $11,724 to $66,735, and notes that implementation and add-on modules are quoted separately. The full breakdown, including the $400 a month directory figure Jobvite has never confirmed, is on our Jobvite pricing page.
| Cost question | Jobvite | Lever |
|---|---|---|
| Median contract (Vendr) | $14,128 a year | $15,400 a year |
| Low end of observed contracts | $11,724 | $6,714 |
| High end of observed contracts | $66,735 | $51,864 |
| What sits outside the base price | Onboarding, AI Companion, recruitment marketing, advanced referrals, implementation | Candidate Insights, AI Screening by VONQ, Onboarding |
| Multi-year effect (Vendr) | 15 to 30 percent lower annual price | 15 to 30 percent lower annual price |
The medians are close enough that the base price should not decide this. What decides the total is how many modules you need. A small team buying Lever gets screening, CRM and interview transcripts in the base platform. A Jobvite buyer who wants onboarding with I-9 and E-Verify handling, interview guidance and referrals is buying three modules on top of the ATS, and the low end of Jobvite's observed range, $11,724, is already well above Lever's.
Which one screens resumes with AI?
Both do, in different ways, and this is the part most comparisons get wrong.
Lever lists "AI-powered screening" inside the Core Platform: it "automatically prioritize[s] top candidates with AI-powered matching, insights, and signals". Separately, it sells AI Screening by VONQ as a paid add-on, an agent that pre-screens applicants on your career site before they reach the ATS. The two names are nearly identical, so ask which one your quote covers. Lever also includes unlimited AI interview transcripts and AI fraud signals, and says its AI is built with IBM watsonx.governance.
Jobvite lists AI-powered candidate matching among its suite features. On its product page, Talent Fit "instantly analyzes applications and surfaces best-fit candidates based on job requirements". Jobvite does not say which module or quote includes it, and it no longer describes a written explanation behind each match. Its AI Interview Companion helps interviewers run structured interviews and is sold as a module. We go deeper on this in does Jobvite use AI to screen resumes.
| Screening task | Jobvite | Lever |
|---|---|---|
| Reads and ranks inbound applicants | Yes, Talent Fit surfaces best-fit candidates | Yes, AI-powered screening in the Core Platform |
| Agent that pre-screens on the career site | Not listed | AI Screening by VONQ, paid add-on |
| Written reason per candidate | Not documented on the current product page | "Insights and signals", format not published |
| Interview help | AI Interview Companion, module | Unlimited AI transcripts and summaries, included |
| Governance | IBM watsonx.governance | IBM watsonx.governance |
Which is better, Jobvite or Lever?
Lever is the better fit for most mid-market teams, and Jobvite is the better fit for large employers with heavy compliance work. That is also how Employ itself sorts them. Lever's strength is having ATS and CRM in one screen, so a lean team can source, nurture and hire without a second tool. Jobvite's strength is breadth: onboarding with I-9 and E-Verify, recruitment marketing, referrals and analytics with more than 60 dashboards, built for "sophisticated talent acquisition teams in highly regulated industries".
Choose Lever if you hire tens to low hundreds of people a year, want AI screening without buying a module, and value recruiter experience. Choose Jobvite if you hire at enterprise volume across regulated roles, need onboarding and compliance paperwork in the same system, and have a TA operations team to run a modular platform. If you are still deciding whether either is right, compare them with the wider field on our Lever alternative and Jobvite alternative pages.
Is Jobvite the same company as Lever?
No, but they share an owner. Jobvite, Lever and JazzHR all belong to Employ Inc., which brought together Jobvite, JazzHR and NXTThing RPO and then added Lever in August 2022. The products are still sold and run separately, with their own pricing pages, quotes and roadmaps. Moving from Lever to Jobvite is a migration to a different system, not an upgrade inside one, so do not assume data, integrations or contract terms carry over.
Both are sold on annual or multi-year terms with renewal dates that are easy to miss. Vendr notes multi-year deals bring the yearly price down 15 to 30 percent, but that discount comes with a longer lock-in and usually a renewal uplift clause. Keep the signed order form, the renewal date and the notice period in a contract management system that alerts you before auto-renewal, so the decision to stay or switch is made on your timeline and not the vendor's.
What to ask for in either quote
- Which AI screening product is included. For Lever, the Core Platform's AI-powered screening or AI Screening by VONQ. For Jobvite, whether Talent Fit is in the core ATS quote or a module.
- Every module priced separately. Onboarding, CRM, referrals and analytics change the total more than the base price does.
- Implementation fee and timeline. Vendr lists implementation as a separate line for Jobvite.
- Renewal uplift cap. Ask for a fixed percentage in writing before signing a multi-year term.
- Seat and requisition limits. Both price by team size and hiring needs, so know which one your quote counts.
When you need screening, not a new ATS
Plenty of teams comparing Jobvite and Lever are really trying to fix one problem: too many applicants and not enough recruiter hours to read them. If that is you, a new ATS contract is an expensive way to get a ranked shortlist. Prescreener reads every inbound resume, applies your knockout and eligibility rules the same way to every applicant, and ranks the pile with the written reason for each score, alongside whatever ATS you already run. It never auto-rejects. Plans are published at $199, $499 and $1,290 a month for the whole account, month to month. See how it handles a big pile on the bulk resume screening page, or compare every vendor's published rate in the ATS pricing comparison.
