Short answer: JazzHR prints three annual prices, from $1,000 a year on Hero to $5,508 on Pro, while Greenhouse prints none and quotes every buyer on its Core, Plus or Pro plan. AI help reading applicants starts on JazzHR Plus at $3,480 a year; on Greenhouse it is Talent Matching, which sits inside a quote. JazzHR suits a single-location small business that wants a fixed bill. Greenhouse suits a growing company that wants structured hiring across several teams and can absorb a custom contract.
The two land on the same shortlist more often than their price gap suggests, usually when a company of 50 to 250 people outgrows its first ATS and has to decide whether to stay cheap or buy structure. JazzHR is owned by Employ Inc., which also owns Lever and Jobvite. Greenhouse is an independent vendor known for structured interviewing. We read JazzHR's pricing page on October 15, 2026 and Greenhouse's on October 20, 2026. Where a number is our arithmetic, the text says so.

How much do JazzHR and Greenhouse cost?
JazzHR publishes three annual rates. Hero is $1,000 a year and covers job posting, starting at three jobs a month, the applicant tracking system, email templates and the LinkedIn Recruiter integration. Plus is $3,480 a year and adds up to 200 active jobs, AI-Powered Candidate Matching, structured interviews and assessments, task automation and standard reporting. Pro is $5,508 a year and adds offers and e-signatures, custom and visual reporting and all-access support. Yearly billing saves up to 24 percent, and some add-ons are billed by consumption at rates the page does not print. Our JazzHR pricing breakdown goes tier by tier.
One footnote changes the math for a lot of buyers. JazzHR's list price excludes agencies, franchises, multi-location businesses and companies with more than 250 employees. If you are any of those, you are getting a quote from JazzHR too, and the comparison becomes quote against quote.
Greenhouse sells three plans, Core, Plus and Pro, and prints no price for any of them. Its FAQ says pricing is customized and depends on the plan, your hiring volume, your organizational complexity and the features you need. Older articles still quote Essential, Advanced and Expert; those names are retired, and the feature lines moved when the plans were repackaged. Our Greenhouse pricing page sorts the figures in circulation by where they came from.
| Budget line, per year | JazzHR | Greenhouse |
|---|---|---|
| Cheapest plan | $1,000 (Hero, no AI matching) | Quote for Core |

| Candidate texting | Sold as a separate Candidate Texting product | Quote for Plus, where texting is listed |
| Audit log and developer sandbox | Not on the plan cards | Quote for Pro |
Is JazzHR cheaper than Greenhouse?
Almost certainly, for a small single-location business, because JazzHR's top published plan is $5,508 a year and Greenhouse is sold as a configured platform on a custom contract. We cannot give you a Greenhouse number, because Greenhouse does not publish one and we will not repeat third-party guesses as if they were the vendor's price.
The fairer question is what you pay for. JazzHR is priced to be bought by an owner or an HR generalist without a sales cycle. Greenhouse is priced for companies hiring across teams, locations or brands, where interview kits, scorecards, SSO and reporting have to hold up across many hiring managers. Buyer reports, not vendor data, describe a Greenhouse rollout as taking a few months and working best with someone who owns recruiting operations. If a company that small has nobody in that role, it can bring in a fractional talent leader on a part-time engagement for the rollout rather than hire one full time.
Does Greenhouse or JazzHR use AI to screen resumes?
Both do, in different ways, and neither reads and ranks the whole inbound pile on its own the moment it arrives.
JazzHR's AI-Powered Candidate Matching is on Plus and Pro. It matches applicants to the job so a recruiter can work the strongest fits first. Hero has no matching, so the $1,000 plan is applicant tracking only.
Greenhouse's answer is Talent Matching, part of its Real Talent product. It reads resumes and application responses against criteria you define and sorts applicants into five match bands. It runs on one pipeline stage, Application Review, and a recruiter switches it on per job. It does not produce a single composite score. There is also a packaging question to settle on your call: the pricing page lists Talent Matching in Core, while Greenhouse support documentation describes it as requiring the Real Talent add-on. Ask which applies to your contract. We cover the mechanics in how Greenhouse Talent Matching scores applicants.
| Screening question | JazzHR | Greenhouse |
|---|---|---|
| Feature name | AI-Powered Candidate Matching | Talent Matching, part of Real Talent |
| Which plans | Plus and Pro | Listed in Core, support docs mention the Real Talent add-on |
| Output | Matches applicants to the job | Five match bands, no composite score |
| Runs automatically on every job | Per job setup | No, switched on per job, one pipeline stage |
| Fraud and spam detection | Not listed | Real Talent on Plus |
Which should a small business pick?
Pick JazzHR if
You are a single-location US business under 250 employees, you hire steadily but not constantly, and you want a bill you can read before you talk to anyone. Hero covers posting and tracking for $1,000 a year. Plus at $3,480 is the plan to compare with Greenhouse, because it is the first one with matching and structured interviews. Our JazzHR vs Workable comparison covers the other ATS on most small-business shortlists, and the best ATS for small business guide ranks the rest.
Pick Greenhouse if
You are hiring across several teams or locations, many hiring managers run interviews, and inconsistent evaluation is costing you good hires. Structured interview kits, scorecards and SSO come in Core, and Plus and Pro add the automation and governance a scaling company grows into. Budget for the implementation time as well as the contract, and get the Talent Matching question answered in writing. If neither fits, our JazzHR alternative and Greenhouse alternative pages compare the other options.
Ranking the applicant pile on either ATS
Whichever you choose, the ATS is the system of record, and a busy requisition still lands as a pile. A customer support or warehouse role at a 120-person company can draw 300 applications in a week. JazzHR Hero will not read them for you. Plus matches them. Greenhouse bands them on one stage once a recruiter turns Talent Matching on. Someone still has to decide who gets a call, and that is usually the person with the least time.
Prescreener does that step on top of either system. It reads every resume as it arrives, applies the knockouts you set, such as work authorization, a required license or shift availability, scores role-fit and ranks the pile with the written evidence behind each criterion. It ranks and flags, never auto-rejects, and a recruiter makes every call. Nothing migrates out of your ATS. That makes it a practical way to get AI resume screening software on JazzHR Hero without paying for Plus, or on Greenhouse without waiting for a contract change. Plans are on the pricing page: $199 a month for up to 1,000 applicants, or half that per month billed yearly.
Frequently asked questions
Is JazzHR cheaper than Greenhouse?
For most small businesses, yes. JazzHR publishes plans from $1,000 to $5,508 a year, while Greenhouse quotes every buyer on Core, Plus or Pro based on volume and complexity. JazzHR's list price does not apply to agencies, franchises, multi-location businesses or companies over 250 employees, who get a quote instead.
How much does Greenhouse cost per year?
Greenhouse does not publish a price. Its pricing page says cost depends on the plan you choose, your hiring volume, your organizational complexity and the features you need, and every plan leads to a demo. Treat any dollar figure you see online as a third-party estimate and get a written quote for your headcount.
Does JazzHR have AI resume screening?
Yes, on the Plus and Pro plans. JazzHR's AI-Powered Candidate Matching starts on Plus at $3,480 a year and matches applicants to the job so recruiters can work the strongest fits first. The $1,000 Hero plan has no matching and covers job posting and applicant tracking only.
Does Greenhouse use AI to screen resumes?
Yes. Greenhouse Talent Matching reads resumes and application responses against criteria you define and sorts applicants into five match bands on the Application Review stage. A recruiter turns it on per job. The pricing page lists it in Core, while support documentation ties it to the Real Talent add-on, so confirm it on your quote.
Can I use Prescreener with JazzHR or Greenhouse?
Yes. Prescreener reads and ranks the resumes on a job as they arrive, with the evidence behind each score, and runs beside either ATS through a forwarding address or upload. It never auto-rejects, and nothing leaves your ATS. Plans start at $199 a month, or half that per month billed yearly.
