Short answer: Jobvite and SmartRecruiters are both enterprise applicant tracking systems, and neither publishes a price you can budget from. SmartRecruiters shows one figure, "Starting at $14,995" for an Essential edition that has no AI, and puts AI candidate screening two editions higher. Jobvite shows no figure and no plan names at all, only a core ATS plus paid add-ons. Vendr's buyer data puts the median Jobvite contract at $14,128 a year and the median SmartRecruiters contract at $33,507. If the reason you are shopping is that nobody reads the inbound pile, check which tier of each one actually does that before you compare anything else.

These two land on the same shortlists because both sell to mid-size and large US employers, both run high-volume and corporate hiring, and both now say "AI" on every page. They have also both changed hands: Jobvite belongs to Employ Inc., which owns Lever and JazzHR too, and SAP completed its purchase of SmartRecruiters in September 2025. Below is what each one has published on price, what each screens, and how to pick. We read both vendors' pages on September 22, 2026.

Jobvite vs SmartRecruiters pricing

SmartRecruiters is the easier of the two to reason about, because it at least names its editions. Essential lists applicant tracking, CRM, onboarding, SMS messaging, job distribution and dynamic scheduling, "Starting at $14,995". The page does not say per year, per month or per contract, so treat any article that adds "per year" as adding a word SmartRecruiters did not use. Professional, High Volume and Complete all say "Request Pricing". Our SmartRecruiters pricing breakdown goes edition by edition.

Jobvite publishes less. Its pricing page describes a model, not a price: "Start with the core Jobvite applicant tracking system (ATS) and add modules like Onboarding, AI Companion, and recruitment marketing software as needed." The comparison page Jobvite runs against SmartRecruiters answers "How much does Jobvite cost?" the same way, naming Onboarding, Advanced Employee Referrals and the AI Interview Companion as the add-ons, and no number. Our Jobvite pricing page covers the one directory rate in circulation, a $400 a month "Basic" plan on Capterra that Jobvite itself does not list.

That leaves third-party contract data as the only real comparison. Vendr, which brokers software purchases and publishes anonymized figures, shows:

Vendr figure (read September 22, 2026)JobviteSmartRecruiters
Median buyer pays$14,128 a year$33,507 a year
Low end of displayed band$11,724$15,250
High end of displayed band$66,735$51,561

Two things stand out. The median SmartRecruiters buyer pays more than twice the median Jobvite buyer, and the SmartRecruiters low of $15,250 sits right next to its own $14,995 Essential figure, which suggests the cheapest real contracts are Essential. Jobvite's band is wider at the top, which fits a product sold as a core plus a menu of modules: buyers who add several end up far from the median. Neither set of numbers tells you which modules or editions were bought, so use them to size the conversation, not to settle it.

One figure to ignore: several comparison sites say Jobvite "starts at $400 per month" and SmartRecruiters "starts at $500 per month". The first is the unconfirmed Capterra listing. The second contradicts SmartRecruiters' own page, where the lowest published figure is $14,995.

Does Jobvite or SmartRecruiters use AI to screen resumes?

Both do, in different places and at different prices.

SmartRecruiters is explicit about where it starts. Essential has no AI features. Professional adds Winston Companion, an AI hiring agent, and Winston Match, which it says "identifies the best candidates for your roles". "AI-powered Candidate Screening" and Winston Chat, its conversational assistant, arrive with High Volume, the edition SmartRecruiters marks as most popular. So the published $14,995 buys the edition without screening, and the edition with screening is quote-only. We covered that gap in detail in does SmartRecruiters use AI to screen resumes.

Jobvite lists "AI-Powered Candidate Matching" among the core features on its pricing page, and its AI page says the platform helps "automatically qualify or disqualify candidates based on skills and match them to roles most aligned with their talents". On its SmartRecruiters comparison page, the matching example is aimed at the existing database: Jobvite's AI "scans your internal talent database to automatically surface qualified candidates once a new position opens". Because Jobvite publishes no tier list, you cannot tell from the outside whether matching sits in the core you are quoted or in a module. Ask. Our Jobvite AI resume screening review has the detail.

Is Jobvite better than SmartRecruiters?

It depends on what your team does all day. Jobvite's own comparison page argues its case on workflow configuration, a native CRM with nurture campaigns, and analytics with "60+ prebuilt reports". It positions itself for "sophisticated talent acquisition teams in highly regulated industries", and its Onboarding add-on handles I-9 and E-Verify. SmartRecruiters argues on ease of use, a large marketplace of integrations, and editions built for specific hiring shapes, with High Volume aimed at retail, seasonal, hospitality and healthcare hiring.

  • Pick Jobvite if you run complex, compliance-heavy corporate hiring, want CRM campaigns and referrals inside the ATS, and prefer to buy a core and add only the modules you use.
  • Pick SmartRecruiters if you hire hourly or seasonal staff at volume, want AI screening and chat as part of a named edition, or run SAP SuccessFactors and want the ATS SAP now owns.
  • Look at neither if the only thing broken is that nobody reads the applications you already get. That is a screening problem, and it does not require replacing the ATS.

What does the ownership change mean for each?

For SmartRecruiters, SAP ownership mostly matters if you run SuccessFactors, where it now leads with a combined offer. For everyone else it is a reason to ask how long current terms are guaranteed and to cap renewal uplift in writing before signing a multi-year deal.

For Jobvite, the relevant fact is that Employ Inc. sells three ATS brands and presents them as a ladder: JazzHR for foundational hiring, Lever for scalable hiring and Jobvite for sophisticated hiring. JazzHR publishes annual rates, Lever quotes, Jobvite publishes nothing. If a Jobvite quote looks too large for your team, ask whether Lever covers what you need, and compare it with our Lever pricing figures.

Both vendors sell an onboarding module, and it is often what pushes a quote up a notch. If the only document you need signed before day one is the offer letter, you do not need an ATS module for that: plain online document e-signing handles it for a small fraction of an enterprise add-on.

What to ask either vendor before signing

  1. Which tier or module includes AI screening of inbound applications, and what does that tier cost on its own line?
  2. Is the price built on employees, recruiters, requisitions or hires? Each grows differently as you scale.
  3. What is the implementation fee, itemized by integration?
  4. What is the renewal uplift cap, in writing, for every year of the term?
  5. Which add-ons are in year one, and what is the price to add each one later?

Where a published-price screening layer fits

Most teams comparing Jobvite and SmartRecruiters are not unhappy with applicant tracking. They are unhappy that hundreds of applications per role sit unread. Moving from one enterprise ATS to another to fix that means a migration, a new contract and, at SmartRecruiters, an upgrade to the edition where screening begins.

Prescreener fixes that one step and runs alongside whichever ATS you keep, Jobvite and SmartRecruiters included. It reads every inbound resume as it arrives, applies your knockout and eligibility rules the same way to every applicant, scores role-fit with the written evidence behind each score, and ranks the pile so recruiters open the strongest matches first. It never auto-rejects: a recruiter makes every call. Plans are $199, $499 and $1,290 a month on the Prescreener pricing page, with no RFP and no implementation fee, and our bulk resume screening page shows how it handles a few hundred applications per role. If you are pricing the wider field, the ATS pricing comparison lists every vendor that publishes a rate.
