Gem recruiting pricing and Gem cost for hiring teams
Gem publishes no price for most companies. Its pricing page offers two routes, Gem + Your ATS and Gem All-in-One, and both read "custom pricing" based on your company's FTE count. The only numbers shown are for startups, so a mid-size or enterprise team has to book a sales call before it sees a figure.

The page gives startups a clearer path. Companies under 30 employees get Gem All-in-One free for six months, then 50% off when they move to a paid plan. Companies with 30 to 100 employees are described as getting reduced rates from day one, with no sales call required. For the smallest tier, 1 to 10 FTE, the page shows $270 and $130 per month figures beside a yearly payment term at 10% off. We read this October 30, 2026, and the page does not label which figure is list and which is discounted, so confirm at checkout.
Gem is a sourcing, CRM, scheduling and analytics platform, with an ATS built into the All-in-One plan. Its AI features sit behind an AI-Powered seat, and its Standard seat carries the base workflow. That makes the buying question wider than reading the resumes already in your inbox.
If the immediate problem is a pile of inbound applicants, Prescreener is a much smaller purchase with published pricing. It reads every inbound resume, ranks it with written evidence per criterion and leaves the decision with a person. It is screening-first, not an ATS or a CRM.
Why it works
Separate the sourcing platform budget from the inbound screening need
Name the problem before the quote
Outbound sourcing across a large profile database and reading inbound applications are different jobs. Decide which one needs funding before comparing a Gem quote with a screening subscription.
Review evidence for every applicant
Prescreener reads and ranks every inbound resume with written evidence per criterion. Recruiters review the ranking with a human in the loop, and Prescreener never auto-rejects.
Budget screening from published prices
Prescreener costs $199, $499, $1,290 or $2,490 a month by applicant volume, or half that billed yearly. Starter is about $99 a month billed yearly for 1,000 resumes ranked monthly.
What it handles
Parsed, scored and ranked on autopilot
Prescreener reads every inbound resume, applies your knockout and eligibility criteria, asks the screening questions you set, scores role-fit against consistent criteria, and ranks the applicant pile so your recruiters review the top matches first.
- Shows exactly which Gem figures are published and which are quote only
- Separates a sourcing and CRM purchase from the inbound resume review requirement
- Turns the seat types and FTE basis into specific questions for sales
- Explains the startup offer for teams under 100 employees
- Provides written evidence per criterion when ranking inbound resumes with Prescreener
- Keeps people responsible for screening decisions because Prescreener never auto-rejects
Why Prescreener
One step that screens the whole inbound pile
Not a full ATS, not a six-figure assessment suite, and not a staffing agency. Parse, score, rank and hand off in one place, shaped to the criteria you already hire on.
Reads every resume
Prescreener parses every inbound application, applies your knockout and eligibility criteria, and asks the screening questions you set. Applicants consent and are told AI is screening their application, so no qualified person sits in a backlog for days.
Scores role-fit consistently
Every applicant is scored against the same criteria, with a transparent reason on each candidate, so the pile is compared consistently and the scoring comes with impact ratio reports for your EEOC and NYC Local Law 144 audit work.
Ranks the pile
The strongest matches rise to the top of a ranked pile your recruiters review first. Prescreener never auto-rejects, it ranks and flags candidates for review, and your team makes every decision.
In depth
Gem pricing evidence and the questions to ask sales
How much does Gem recruiting cost?
For most companies the answer is a quote. Gem + Your ATS keeps your current applicant tracking system and layers AI sourcing, outreach, scheduling and analytics on top. Gem All-in-One replaces the stack with one platform that includes an ATS. Both are listed as custom pricing based on FTE count, with a Talk to Sales button and no rate card.
Startups are the exception. The page lists a Gem Startup Program with a company-size and payment-term selector. For 1 to 10 FTE on a yearly term, it shows $270 and $130 per month with 10% off for paying yearly. Treat those as startup figures only. They do not describe what a 200-person company would pay, and the page publishes no formula that scales them upward.
Because pricing follows headcount, a growing company should expect the bill to move at each size band. Ask sales what happens to the rate when your FTE count crosses a band, and get the renewal terms in writing.
| Option | Published on gem.com/pricing | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Gem + Your ATS | Custom pricing based on FTE count | Request a quote |
| Gem All-in-One | Custom pricing based on FTE count | Request a quote |
| Startup, under 30 employees | All-in-One free for six months, then 50% off | Startup offer, not a general rate |
| Startup, 30 to 100 employees | Reduced rates, no sales call required | Amount not shown without selecting a tier |
| Startup, 1 to 10 FTE yearly | $270 and $130 per month, 10% off yearly | Confirm which figure applies at checkout |

Standard seat versus AI-Powered seat
Gem describes two seat types. A Standard seat carries the base set of features for each workflow, and an AI-Powered seat unlocks the AI capabilities. This matters for budgeting, because the AI application review that most buyers care about is attached to the AI seat, not the base seat.
In sourcing and CRM, the Standard seat lists 1-click add from more than 20 sourcing sites, unlimited email-finding, talent pools, boolean search, multi-channel sequences and bi-directional ATS sync. The AI seat adds AI sourcing agents across 800M+ profiles, AI-personalized outreach, talent rediscovery and AI ranking across your pipeline.
In applicant tracking, the AI seat adds an AI application review agent that scores every inbound application, keyword filters with AI resume highlights, and AI-ranked applicant lists. Core ATS workflows such as requisitions, posting to 100+ boards, scorecards and offers are listed as included in the All-in-One plans.
Ask sales how many of each seat type your quote assumes. If only a few recruiters need AI review, the mix changes the total. Hiring managers get a Talent Pipeline view with basic pipeline metrics on every plan and need no seat.
| Workflow | Standard seat | AI-Powered seat |
|---|---|---|
| Sourcing and CRM | Email-finding, talent pools, sequences, ATS sync | AI sourcing agents, AI outreach, rediscovery, AI ranking |
| Applicant tracking | Requisitions, scorecards, offers (All-in-One) | AI application review agent, AI-ranked applicant lists |
| Scheduling | Self-scheduling portal, panel scheduling | Load balancing and capacity management are add-ons |
| Analytics | Talent Compass dashboards and forecasting | Basic pipeline metrics on every plan |

What drives a Gem quote
The page names one driver outright, which is company FTE count. Other items are questions to ask, not confirmed Gem billing rules: the number of Standard and AI-Powered seats, whether you choose Gem + Your ATS or All-in-One, add-ons such as scheduling, the AI Fraud Detection Agent and analytics, and the contract term.
The Gem + Your ATS page lists add-ons separately, namely Scheduling, the AI Fraud Detection Agent and Analytics. That suggests the entry quote may not include them. Request a line-by-line proposal so each module has its own price and you can remove any you do not need.
| Possible quote driver | Question for sales | Written detail to request |
|---|---|---|
| Company FTE count | Which size band are we in, and when does it change? | Band thresholds and renewal treatment |
| Plan choice | Gem + Your ATS or All-in-One? | Scope of each and migration work |
| Seat mix | How many AI-Powered seats are assumed? | Seat counts by type |
| Add-ons | Are scheduling, fraud detection and analytics included? | Separate line item for each |
| Contract term | What is the term and the renewal uplift? | Commitment and renewal terms |

Where Gem fits and where it does not
Gem is worth a scope discussion when the work is proactive: finding passive candidates, running outreach sequences, rediscovering past applicants in your CRM and tracking pipeline against a headcount plan. Its pricing page lists customers such as eBay and GitLab, and the product is built around recruiters who source.
It is a heavier purchase if what hurts is the weekly flood of inbound resumes. Gem does offer an AI Application Review Agent, but it sits on the AI seat inside a platform you would be buying for sourcing, CRM and scheduling as well. A team that mainly needs inbound ranking pays for scope it may not use.

| Need | Gem fit | Prescreener fit |
|---|---|---|
| Source passive candidates | Core use case | Not offered |
| Run outreach sequences | Core use case | Not offered |
| Applicant tracking and offers | All-in-One plan | Not offered, screening-first |
| Read and rank every inbound resume | AI Application Review Agent on AI seat | Core use case with evidence per criterion |

Questions to ask on the Gem call
Bring these to the sales call and keep the answers beside the quote.
1. Which FTE band is our price based on, and what changes when we hire past it?
2. Should we buy Gem + Your ATS or All-in-One, and what does moving our ATS data involve?
3. How many Standard and AI-Powered seats does this quote assume?
4. Are scheduling, analytics and the AI Fraud Detection Agent in the price or add-ons?
5. Does the AI Application Review Agent score every inbound application, and how are scores explained to a recruiter?
6. What are the contract term and renewal uplift?
7. If we qualify as a startup, which tier applies and when does the 50% discount end?
Rank inbound resumes before buying a broader platform
If your immediate bottleneck is the inbound pile, define success as reading and ranking those resumes. Prescreener reads every inbound resume and shows written evidence per criterion behind the ranking. A person decides what happens next, and Prescreener never auto-rejects. That is a narrower purchase than a sourcing and CRM platform.
Use bulk applicant screening for the reading backlog, or application scoring software for criterion-based ranking. Prescreener does not source candidates, run outreach or replace an ATS.
Prescreener pricing is $199, $499, $1,290 or $2,490 a month by applicant volume, or half that billed yearly. Starter is about $99 a month billed yearly for 1,000 resumes ranked monthly. That gives you a concrete screening number to hold beside a Gem quote.
| Purchase | Price evidence | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Gem | Custom quote by FTE count, startup tiers published | Sourcing, CRM, scheduling, analytics, optional ATS |
| Prescreener monthly plans | $199, $499, $1,290 or $2,490 a month | Inbound resume ranking by applicant volume |
| Prescreener yearly billing | Half the monthly price | Inbound resume ranking by applicant volume |
| Prescreener Starter billed yearly | About $99 a month for 1,000 resumes ranked monthly | Evidence per criterion with human review |
