HireVue Pricing: HireVue Cost and the $35K Floor It Removed
HireVue publishes no rate today, but its own pricing page said Starts at $35K until early 2024. What HireVue costs, what the Essential and Premium packages are, why the circulating $75,000 and implementation figures do not trace to HireVue, and the per-hire math to run before the sales call.

Short answer: HireVue does not publish a price today. Its pricing page names an Essential package and a Premium package and routes every buyer to a demo. But HireVue did publish a number until early 2024: its own pricing page said "Starts at $35K" for companies of 2,500 to 7,500 employees, later 2,500 to 5,000. That figure is gone now, so treat $35,000 a year as a historical floor rather than a current rate. Procurement data from Vendr puts the average HireVue contract at $49,855 a year, from a small sample.
Last updated September 2026. The current pricing page was read on September 10, 2026. Historical figures come from archived copies of hirevue.com/pricing from May 2022, January 2024 and August 2024. Where a number comes from a third party rather than HireVue, this article says so.
How much does HireVue cost?
HireVue costs what your quote says, and the only figure HireVue itself ever put in public was a $35,000 annual starting point that it has since removed. Everything else in circulation is either procurement data or an estimate, and it pays to know which is which before a number goes into a budget.
Here is what the evidence actually supports. The current hirevue.com/pricing page has no rate, no per-candidate figure and no tier table. It says the platform runs "from the Essential package to the Premium package", lists FAQ answers about training, ATS integrations, security and support, and offers an ROI calculator and a Request Demo button. That is all.

The $35K floor HireVue published, and when it disappeared
Most articles quoting "$35,000" for HireVue do not say where it came from. It came from HireVue. An archived copy of hirevue.com/pricing from May 2022 shows two packages. Essentials was "Recommended for 2500-7500 employees" and "Starts at $35K*". Enterprise, for 7,500 employees and up, said "Request a demo to receive quote". The page's FAQ added that Essentials "is meant for companies under 7500 employees and is easy to buy with a standard contract".
By January 2024 the entry package had been renamed Corporate Pricing, the recommended band had narrowed to 2,500 to 5,000 employees, and the figure was still "Starts at $35K*". By August 2024 it was gone. The page now listed Essential, Enterprise and Premium with no starting price, and the asterisk had turned into a footnote inviting anyone whose "company size or budget" was not represented to request a demo. By late 2025 even the tier table had gone, leaving the single sentence about Essential and Premium that is there today.
Two things follow. First, the $35,000 figure is real but at least two and a half years old, and HireVue chose to stop standing behind it. Use it as an anchor for the size of the conversation, not as a price. Second, the employee band matters as much as the number. HireVue's own entry package was aimed at companies with at least 2,500 employees. If you have 300, you were never the customer that page was written for.
What are the HireVue packages?
HireVue names two packages today, Essential and Premium, and publishes no feature list for either. The August 2024 page listed a third, Enterprise, in between. What each package contains now is something only a HireVue rep can tell you.
The 2022 page is the most detailed public record of what the entry package covered. It listed live video interviewing, on-demand one-way interviewing, customizable branding and single-language configuration, and further down the table coding assessments, adverse impact testing, IO-validated content, job analysis, enterprise-grade roles and permissions, single sign-on, compliance with the Illinois Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act, GDPR and SOC 2. Which of those sat in Essentials and which needed Enterprise is exactly the detail to get in writing.
The product itself has moved on since then. HireVue now sells four stages: Match and Apply to engage candidates, the AI Interviewer to screen them, Assessments and an Assessment Builder, and Video Interviewing, with automation and scheduling around them. Its current FAQ claims SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001 and GDPR compliance, 24/7 support in more than 20 languages, and that HireVue is the only virtual interviewing and assessment provider that is FedRAMP certified, which matters mainly to public sector buyers.
Why HireVue pricing articles disagree with each other
Because they are quoting different things without saying so. Among the pages ranking for HireVue pricing you will find $35,000 as a current starting price, a $75,000 Enterprise floor, $49,855 as an average, $145,000 at the top, and $15,000 to $40,000 for implementation. Only one of those was ever published by HireVue, and it is the one that has since been withdrawn.
| Figure in circulation | Where it traces to | Our position |
|---|---|---|
| $35,000 starting price | HireVue's own pricing page, 2022 to early 2024 | Real, but historical. Removed by August 2024 |
| $75,000 Enterprise floor | Third-party articles. Not on any archived HireVue page we checked | Unverified. Do not budget on it |
| $49,855 average contract | Vendr procurement data, 5 deals, 3 buyers | Real data, very small sample |
| Around $145,000 maximum | Vendr procurement data | Real data, very small sample |
| $15,000 to $40,000 implementation | Third-party articles | Unverified. Ask HireVue directly |
| Essential for 2,500 to 7,500 employees | HireVue's 2022 page | Outdated. The band was 2,500 to 5,000 by January 2024 |
The rule we apply across our own pricing pages is to cite a rate only if it came from the vendor recently, and to say plainly when a vendor publishes nothing rather than filling the gap with a plausible number. The same approach runs through our ATS and screening pricing comparison.
What does HireVue cost per hire?
Divide the contract by the hires it supports, because that is the number your CFO will eventually ask for. At the historical $35,000 floor, a company making 500 hires a year pays $70 per hire for the platform. At 100 hires it is $350 per hire. At the $49,855 Vendr average and 100 hires, it is about $499.
| Annual contract | 100 hires a year | 250 hires a year | 500 hires a year |
|---|---|---|---|
| $35,000 (historical floor) | $350 per hire | $140 per hire | $70 per hire |
| $49,855 (Vendr average) | $499 per hire | $199 per hire | $100 per hire |
| $145,000 (Vendr high end) | $1,450 per hire | $580 per hire | $290 per hire |
That spread explains who HireVue is for. At several hundred hires a year, with campus programs, hourly volume and a talent operations team to run it, the per-hire cost is reasonable for structured interviewing at scale. At a few dozen hires a year it is hard to justify, and that is when buyers start reading our HireVue alternatives comparison.
It also helps to be clear about what the money buys. If the only piece you wanted from HireVue was a recorded-answer assessment for a handful of roles, an assessment platform that scores written and recorded answers automatically is a much smaller purchase than an enterprise interviewing suite. If you want one-way video interviews on a published plan, Spark Hire pricing is public, and our roundup of the best video interviewing software compares the rest.
Does HireVue screen resumes?
No. HireVue's AI acts on what a candidate completes: an interview, an assessment, a chat. It does not read the resume pile that arrives when you post a job. We covered this in detail in whether HireVue uses AI to screen resumes, and it is the single most important thing to understand before you price it.
The consequence for cost is direct. Someone still has to decide which applicants get a HireVue invitation. If 600 people apply and you invite all of them, you are paying enterprise rates to interview people a recruiter would have ruled out in ten seconds. If you invite 60, somebody read 600 resumes first. HireVue prices the interview stage. It does not do the reading.
That reading step is what Prescreener does. It reads every inbound resume, applies your knockout and eligibility criteria, scores role-fit and returns the pile ranked with a written reason per candidate, so the shortlist you send into HireVue is chosen evenly rather than by arrival order. Plans are published: $199, $499 and $1,290 a month, billed monthly. Growth for a full year is $5,988, which is less than a fifth of HireVue's old starting figure, but it is not the same product and should not be compared as if it were. It screens. HireVue interviews.
What to ask HireVue before you sign
Seven questions, all answerable on the first call, and all things the pricing page no longer tells you.
First, what is the annual rate at our employee count and hiring volume, and is it priced on employees, hires, interviews or candidates. Second, which package are we being quoted, Essential or Premium, and what exactly is in it, line by line. Third, is the AI Interviewer included or a separate line, and the same for Assessments and scheduling. Fourth, what is the implementation fee, what does it cover and is it one time.
Fifth, what is the contract length, and what is the renewal uplift cap in writing for the whole term. Sixth, what is the overage rule if we interview more candidates than the contract assumes. Seventh, since we hire in the United States, what bias-audit documentation does HireVue provide for its AI scoring under NYC Local Law 144, and how does it support Illinois Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act consent, which HireVue itself listed as a compliance feature in 2022.
Then ask the question the price is really posing: are we buying an interviewing platform, or are we trying to fix the fact that nobody reads the applications? The first is what HireVue sells. The second is cheaper to solve before the interview, and our TestGorilla pricing breakdown shows the same logic applied to assessment credits: decide who is worth testing or interviewing first, and every downstream tool costs less.
