Testlify pricing and Testlify cost per candidate credit

Testlify costs $139 a month on its Starter plan, billed as $1,668 a year, for 100 candidate credits and 3 users. That works out to $16.68 per candidate, and once the 100 are gone each extra candidate costs $21, charged monthly to the card on file. Larger tiers lower the price per credit, and the top tiers move to a sales conversation.

The unit to understand is the credit. Testlify charges one credit per candidate, and the credit is spent when a candidate starts an assessment, not when they finish it and not when you hire. So your bill tracks how many people you invite, which makes the invitation list the biggest lever you have on cost.

We read testlify.com/pricing on October 20, 2026. The live page shows the Starter tier by default and moves the other tiers behind a slider, so for those we use the Internet Archive capture of the same page dated August 4, 2026. Starter was billed $1,663 a year in that capture and $1,668 now, so treat the higher-tier figures as close, not exact, and confirm them on the slider before you budget.

Testlify is a credible choice in its category. It prints real numbers, lists more than 3,000 tests, offers a 7-day trial without a card and states a 30-day money-back guarantee. What it does not do well is the step before the test: deciding which of 400 applicants is worth a credit. That is the job Prescreener does.

Why it works

What ranking resumes first changes on a Testlify bill

Fewer credits per hire

Testlify spends a credit on every candidate who starts a test. Prescreener reads and ranks every resume first, so the test goes to a shortlist instead of the whole applicant pile.

Evidence before the invite

Each Prescreener score shows the resume evidence behind every criterion, so a recruiter can see why an applicant earned an assessment before a credit is spent on them.

A flat rate on the reading step

Prescreener is $199, $499, $1,290 or $2,490 a month by applicant volume, or half that billed yearly. Reading 1,000 resumes costs the same as reading 100.

What it handles

Parsed, scored and ranked on autopilot

Prescreener reads every inbound resume, applies your knockout and eligibility criteria, asks the screening questions you set, scores role-fit against consistent criteria, and ranks the applicant pile so your recruiters review the top matches first.

  • Reads every inbound resume the moment it arrives, on every open job
  • Applies knockout rules such as licenses, certifications, location or work authorization the same way to every applicant
  • Scores role-fit with the written evidence behind each score
  • Ranks the pile so only the strongest applicants receive a Testlify assessment
  • Runs beside Testlify, Greenhouse, Lever, JazzHR or any ATS through a forwarding address or upload
  • Never auto-rejects: it ranks and flags, and a person decides

Why Prescreener

One step that screens the whole inbound pile

Not a full ATS, not a six-figure assessment suite, and not a staffing agency. Parse, score, rank and hand off in one place, shaped to the criteria you already hire on.

Reads every resume

Prescreener parses every inbound application, applies your knockout and eligibility criteria, and asks the screening questions you set. Applicants consent and are told AI is screening their application, so no qualified person sits in a backlog for days.

Scores role-fit consistently

Every applicant is scored against the same criteria, with a transparent reason on each candidate, so the pile is compared consistently and the scoring comes with impact ratio reports for your EEOC and NYC Local Law 144 audit work.

Ranks the pile

The strongest matches rise to the top of a ranked pile your recruiters review first. Prescreener never auto-rejects, it ranks and flags candidates for review, and your team makes every decision.

In depth

Testlify pricing, tier by tier

How much does Testlify cost?

Testlify starts at $139 a month on Starter when billed yearly, which is $1,668 a year for 100 candidate credits and 3 users. Paid monthly, the same entry tier was $198 a month for 10 credits a month in the August 2026 capture, or $2,376 over a year for 120 credits, so yearly billing cuts the price of a credit from about $20 to $16.68.

Above Starter, the capture lists Basic and Business with published prices, then Premium, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus, which show a billed figure in the page code but ask buyers to contact sales. Above 25,000 credits a year Testlify quotes a custom plan. Your base price is locked for 24 months; add-ons, upgrades and extra usage are billed at whatever the rate is at the time.

What does one Testlify candidate credit cost?

One credit costs between about $3 and $20 depending on the tier, and the price drops steeply with volume. On the live Starter plan a credit is $16.68 and an extra credit past the allowance is $21. On Business, billed yearly, the capture shows about $8 a credit and $10 for an extra one. Monthly plans cost more per credit at every level.

Two rules matter more than the rate. A credit is spent when the candidate starts the assessment, so somebody who opens the test and walks away still costs you one. And credits do not roll over: whatever is left at the end of the billing cycle expires. Buying a big annual tier to get the low unit price only pays if you will really invite that many people.

Plan Included credits Price per credit Extra credit
Starter, yearly 100 a year $16.68 $21
Basic, yearly 300 a year About $11 $14
Business, yearly 1,000 a year About $8 $10
Starter, monthly 10 a month About $20 $25
Basic, monthly 30 a month About $13 $17
Business, monthly 100 a month About $10 $12

What Testlify add-ons cost

The Standard plans cover the test library, unlimited assessments, custom questions, video and audio interviews, standard proctoring and email and chat support. Several things a mid-size US employer will want are priced separately, and the add-ons are where a $1,668 plan turns into a larger line item.

The two that matter most are ATS integrations and white labeling, each $2,388 a year on the Standard plan and included on the Custom plan. If your team works in an applicant tracking system, budget for the integration from the start rather than discovering it after the trial.

Add-on Published price When you need it
100+ ATS integrations, API and webhooks $2,388 a year on Standard Results should land in your ATS
White labeling $2,388 a year on Standard Remove Testlify branding, custom domain and SMTP
Extra user seat $15 per seat a month More than 3 users on Starter
System requirement check $0.25 per check Remote candidates on unknown hardware
Photo ID verification $0.50 per attempt Identity checks on high-stakes roles
Live video proctoring and screen recording $5 per attempt Strict proctoring
Phone interviews $0.18 per minute AI phone screening

Does Testlify screen resumes?

Partly. Testlify lists AI resume scoring on its plans, and the tooltip on the pricing page reads "Free with Greenhouse ATS integration. Additional ATS integrations available on request." So resume scoring is tied to an ATS connection, and the published connection is Greenhouse. If you are not on Greenhouse, ask whether your ATS is supported and whether it needs the $2,388 integrations add-on before you count resume scoring as included.

The product is built around what happens after the application: tests, simulations, interviews and proctoring. Its own closing pitch talks about surfacing great hires with assessments and no resume bias. That is a reasonable philosophy for the testing step. It leaves the question of who gets invited, which on a busy requisition is the question that decides the bill.

Is Testlify worth it for high-volume hiring?

Yes, if you test a shortlist. No, if you test everyone who applies. The arithmetic is simple. A warehouse or customer support requisition that draws 400 applicants, all invited on Starter, burns 400 credits, which is 100 included and 300 extra at $21, or $6,300 on top of the plan. Invite the top 40 instead and you stay inside the 100 credits you already paid for. Those figures are our arithmetic from the published rates.

Ranking the pile first is what makes the shortlist possible without a recruiter reading 400 resumes, and it is the core of bulk applicant screening. Prescreener reads every resume as it arrives, applies your knockouts such as work authorization, shift availability or a required license, and ranks the rest with the reason written under each score. You send Testlify links to the top of that list. Starter is $199 a month for 1,000 applicants, or about $99 a month billed yearly.

How Testlify pricing compares with other assessment vendors

Testlify is one of the few assessment vendors that still prints a full ladder of prices. Vervoe pricing went quote-only when it removed its self-serve plans in early 2026, and Criteria Corp pricing is a quote for every buyer. TestGorilla pricing is the closest published comparison. Read the table as what each vendor publishes, checked on our recent visits, not as negotiated prices.

Vendor What it publishes Reads resumes?
Testlify Starter $1,668 a year for 100 credits, higher tiers by slider or quote AI resume scoring with the Greenhouse integration
TestGorilla Core from $215 and Plus from $520 a month, billed annually Scores resumes uploaded inside an assessment
Vervoe Nothing since early 2026 No, replaces resumes with tests
Criteria Corp Nothing. Vendr median $13,225 a year No
Prescreener $199, $499, $1,290 and $2,490 a month, half that yearly Yes, reads and ranks every resume

What to ask Testlify before you sign

Ask which tier matches your real invite count, not your applicant count, and get the extra-credit rate in writing for that tier. Ask whether your ATS connector is covered by the integrations add-on or quoted separately, and whether AI resume scoring works with it or only with Greenhouse. If you hire in bursts, ask whether a monthly plan through the busy quarter beats an annual tier whose unused credits expire.

Then decide how the shortlist gets made. If nobody owns that step, the default is to invite everyone, and a per-candidate tool is at its most expensive when it is used that way. An application scoring software layer in front of the test fixes the default.

Good questions

Questions about testlify pricing

Testlify Starter costs $139 a month billed yearly, which is $1,668 a year for 100 candidate credits and 3 users. Extra credits are $21 each. The August 2026 capture listed Basic at $3,343 and Business at $8,383 a year, with Premium and larger tiers quoted by sales.
Yes. Testlify offers a 7-day free trial with no credit card required, and its pricing page also states a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans. Use the trial on a live role so you can see how many candidates actually start the test, because that number sets your credit spend.
No. Testlify says unused credits do not roll over and expire at the end of the billing cycle. On an annual plan that means the yearly allowance resets each year, so buying a larger tier for its lower price per credit only pays off if you will invite that many candidates within the year.
Yes. Testlify spends one credit when a candidate starts an assessment, so a candidate who opens the test and abandons it still uses a credit. That is why the size of your invite list, not the number of completed tests, drives what you pay over a year.
Testlify lists AI resume scoring, and its pricing page says it is free with the Greenhouse ATS integration, with other ATS integrations available on request. Integrations are a $2,388 a year add-on on the Standard plan, so confirm your setup before treating resume scoring as included.
Yes. Prescreener reads and ranks every resume on a job as it arrives, with written evidence for each criterion, so you send Testlify assessments only to the applicants at the top. Fewer invitations means fewer credits spent, and a recruiter still makes every decision.
